P.E.I.'s OFFICIAL NEW WORD FOR 2018
For example, “I went to grab a quick coffee at Receiver but got gabled.” Or, “You’re likely to get gabled in Cavendish on a day like today.”
P.E.I.’s Official New Word was announced to commemorate Islander Day. “Gabled” was chosen because of its level of creativity. Internationally, [Anne of] Green Gables is Prince Edward Island’s best-known icon. And because of that Islanders know what it’s like to have their driving or walking pace thwarted by one of our many tourists. “Gabled” gives a name to an experience all Islander’s share but never had a word for until now.
